Spring Full of Discovery: Children Explored the Life of Plants and How They Grow
1 day ago
With the arrival of spring, our classroom turned into a place full of discovery, creativity, and new knowledge. This time, we dived into the fascinating world of plants and their growth. During the project, the children explored the life cycle of plants, learned what they need to live, and discovered which conditions help them grow and thrive.
We connected the topic with exploring the world around us as well as with practical activities, which helped the children understand and experience the new information more clearly. We talked about how plants grow from seed to flower, what they need for life, and why they are so important for nature and people. At the same time, the children looked for connections between what happens in nature and what they can observe around them every day.
The project also included a creative and practical part, which the children really enjoyed. Each child made their own flower pot, in which they then planted a flower. These flowers now serve as cheerful spring decorations in our classroom and remind the children of everything they learned during the project. Thanks to this, they gained not only new knowledge, but also the joy of creating something of their own and caring for something living.

Activities like these are very important to us because they help children learn naturally, in context, and with genuine interest. When children can not only hear the lesson, but also see it, experience it, and try it out in practice, it becomes much more meaningful for them.
At Fostra Elementary, we encourage children to be curious, to see the world in wider connections, and to learn with joy. This spring project about plants was a wonderful example of what meaningful, playful, and real world connected learning can look like.
