Project Day: Václav Havel Airport and Sustainability Topics

A very interesting part of the excursion was learning about the processes related to the handling of aviation fuels, wastewater and rainwater, as well as biomonitoring, in which bees also play a role. Students were able to see that the operation of such a large and complex place relies on a wide range of carefully designed measures and innovative approaches.

The programme took place not only inside the airport terminals, but also in the outdoor areas and on the airport apron. This gave students a clearer understanding of how these processes work in practice and how important coordination, responsibility and long term planning are.

We consider project days like this to be an important part of learning, because they help children connect school knowledge with the real world. It is not only about gaining new information, but also about developing the ability to see things in context, ask questions, and think about how places and systems that are part of everyday life actually work.

At Fostra Elementary, we guide children to learn not only in the classroom, but also through authentic experiences that help them better understand the world around them.
