How Math Skills Grow in Year 1

Our first graders are gradually expanding their number range and can now confidently count up to 17. But it’s not just about numbers. What matters most is that children truly understand mathematics.

They learn to see connections, work with quantities, think through processes, and find their own solutions. This helps them build strong foundations they can continue to develop.

At our school, math is not about memorization, but about understanding. And that is the first step towards confidence and a genuine joy of learning.
